Shannon Eddy Smith has been teaching music in the west end of Ottawa for fifteen years. Upon graduating from Carleton University with a B.Mus. High Honours degree, majoring in performance and composition, she and her husband opened the Centrepointe Conservatory of Music which offered lessons in piano, trumpet, voice, guitar and saxophone as well as group theory and keyboard harmony courses.
In 1999, Shannon began teaching lessons at her home studio in Queensway Terrace North, as it proved much more practical with the arrival of two children. Shannon has continued to instruct students from ages six and up in classical piano, theory, composition, vocal training, as well as teaching lessons in the jazz idiom.
Many of Shannon's students have gone on to win awards in the Ottawa Kiwanis Festival as well as to recieve First Class Honours in the Royal Conservatory of Music examinations. A testimony of her enthusiasm and skills as a music teacher can be seen in her reference letters from past students.

In addition to her private Kindermusik business, Shannon is devoted to enriching the lives of students through weekly music sessions at many schools throughout the west end. Westboro Nursery School, Ganon Nursery School, as well as St. Martins Nursery School employ Shannon on a weekly basis to engage the children in singing and instrument play. Montessori Music Programs have also been incorporated into Shannon’s weekly music rounds. For fall 2007, she will be visiting Rainbow Montessori School as well as the Ottawa Children’s Montessori Centre in the Island Park area for half day programs. New this year, Shannon will be initiating a music program at Hillel Academy for students Gr. 1-8. These children will be guided in Orff Ensemble and weekly choir practise.
